Questions about a shop
How much does an online shop cost?
From £8,000 for design, catalogue, Stripe, checkout, and the plumbing. Higher than a brochure site because payments and stock are extra work.
Can I manage products and orders?
Yes. An admin to add, edit, hide, and watch orders. I show you how on day one.
Is this better than Shopify?
If you sell enough that the rent hurts, often yes. Shopify is £65 to £340 a month plus extra fees. Over two years a mid plan with apps can cost more than this build, and you are still renting.
What can people pay with?
Through Stripe: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer. Fraud and PCI stay with Stripe.
How do you handle card data?
It never hits your server. Stripe Elements take it. I still put HTTPS and security headers on the site.
Can it talk to Xero or QuickBooks?
Stripe already does. Sales and invoices can go through without you typing them in.
